Varsity

  Head Coach Scott Widner Coach Widner has been coaching high school baseball for 28 seasons and is entering his 9th season as a varsity head coach and 3rd at the helm of the Murrieta Valley Program. Widner previously coached at Wilson HS (Hacienda Heights), Rowland HS, and Canyon Springs HS before arriving at MVHS. Widner holds an AS Degree in Radio and Television Broadcasting from Mt. San Antonio College, a Bachelor’s Degree in English from CSU Fullerton, and a Master’s Degree in Education Administration from Azusa Pacific University, along with a teaching credential from CSU Los Angeles. Coach Widner teaches English at MVHS.
       
  Asst. Coach Monte Jones Coach Jones is entering his 8th season with the Murrieta Valley baseball program, where he was previously the head coach for two seasons. Jones played baseball at CSU Northridge helping the Matadors to the Division II World Series. Jones also played at Iowa State University where he obtained a Bachelor’s Degree in Special Education. Prior to Iowa State and CSU Northridge, Jones played for and won a state championship with Cypress College. Jones was the batting practice pitcher for the 1995 California Angels. Coach Jones teaches in the Special Education Program at MV.
       
  Asst. Coach Scott May Coach May is entering his sixth year with the MV baseball program, his second as a varsity assistant after spending four seasons as the head coach for the JV team. May also coaches in the MV football program. May played baseball at Point Loma Nazarene University where he graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Mathematics. May has been coaching in the MVHS football program for the last 6 years.  Coach May teaches Mathematics at MV.
       
  Asst. Coach Charlie Martin Coach Martin is entering his first season with the Murrieta Valley baseball program, serving as a varsity assistant coach last year at Chaparral HS. Martin has over 25 years of baseball coaching experience at varying levels and is currently coaching the Southern California Mavericks Elite Baseball Club. Coach Martin is a 20 year veteran firefighter/paramedic with the Los Angeles County Fire Department.
